Product Story

It is clear that the Noguchi Coffee Table was designed by a sculptor. Isamu Noguchi was a well-known artist and designer who was a leader of the modernist movement of the 20th century. His coffee table is an abstract piece that is as interesting as it is functional. It is one of the most well recognized and popular occasion tables of the mid-century period. This item is available in Ebony, American Walnut, Walnut and Ash finishes.

Details & Specifications
This premium Rove Concepts reproduction features:
  • Hand-applied and buffed stains allow the wood grain to absorb the color while not painting the surface. This process results in translucent color quality allowing the interesting areas of the grain to show through the stain.
  • Solid European Ash hardwood base with a Janka Hardness rating of 1320 PSI
  • Also available in American Walnut wood
  • ¾” Thick (19mm) tempered glass with a square honed edge
  • 5 coats of UV-cured Polyurethane finish for a glass-like, highly scratch-resistant shine that never needs waxing
  • 3-year manufacturer’s defect warranty

This item is not manufactured by or affiliated with the original designer(s) and associated parties.

Noguchi, Isamu

Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) was told he could never be a sculptor by his mentor, who designed Mount Rushmore. However, the Japanese American designer and artist worked in many mediums and industries, including sculpture, landscape architecture, furniture and lighting design and public art. His lifelong career demonstrated how wrong his instructor was.

Noguchi’s most famous design was his Noguchi Coffee Table. The modern structure clearly shows his artistic roots, as it explores negative space, organic shapes and asymmetry.

Noguchi’s artistic and product designs continue to be widely acknowledged by museum exhibits, the Noguchi Museum in New York City and the popular Noguchi Coffee Table.  He is also featured on a 37 cent stamp by the US Postal Service.
