Originally designed in 1957 by Finnish architect and designer Eero Saarinen, the Tulip collection of chairs and tables was an exercise in simplicity. As is so often the case with simple yet effective changes to everyday concepts, Saarinen’s idea had a huge impact. The Tulip Side Chair is one of the simplest items in this collection, epitomising Saarinen’s vision with its clean, flowing lines.
This stunning true-to-form replica is crafted from durable fibreglass with a glossy white exterior and strong red, white or black cushioned seat pad made from premium Italian leather. These features ensure your comfort – both in the sitting, and in the knowledge that your Saarinen Tulip chair has been made to last.

Eero Saarinen born 1910 was a Finnish American architect and industrial designer famous for his ability to master varying style. For example, he was accomplished in both simple, sweeping, arching structural curves and seemingly the opposite side of the spectrum, machine-like rationalism. He designed many important pieces of furniture including one of the most famous, the “Womb” chair and ottoman (1948). The “Tulip” or “Pedestal” group (1956), features side and arm chairs, dining, coffee and side tables, as well as a stool. Eero’s designs were extensive, all were highly successful except for the “Grasshopper” lounge chair, which, although in production through 1965, was not a big hit.

Great quality! received these after 8 weeks of waiting though. They are really cool chairs and I love the vibrant colors that cushions bring. 3 stars because I thought they would be more comfortable. The armed versions are probably better for comfort.

Just received my set of chairs today, finally I can throw out my old dining chairs! These match so beautifully with the oval table I ordered. They are a true center piece for my dining room!
