Exclusive Members Design Q&A Event Recap

In case you missed it, earlier this month we hosted our first-ever exclusive live Q&A event with local Vancouver interior designers: Joanna Kado and Daniel Meloché. This event focused on design trends for Spring/Summer, tips and tricks for styling your home, and answering some of your design inquiries.

Here are some key takeaways from the event that you can implement in your spaces:

• Refresh your home by adding seasonal colors like, apricot, mint, sage green, and other pastel colors.

• Embrace a nature inspired space by incorporating pieces that can be used both in your indoor spaces and outdoor settings with organic materials and textures such as, rattan, linen, wool and jute.

Tips for decorating a small entryway:

• Add an oversized mirror with intricate details like the Hudson Mirror to visually make the space look and feel larger while adding a touch of elegance.

  • • If there is not enough space for a bench in your entryway, opt for a simple pouf instead. The Nova Pouf is the perfect piece for any entryway, functioning as a place to sit to put on your shoes while also doubling as décor.

How to pick a rug for your home.

Nothing completes a space than finding the perfect rug that not only adds color and texture but evokes a feeling of warmth and sophistication. There’s a couple things to consider when choosing out a rug for your space.

Size: First determine the size for the room. In a living room setting you want to ensure that the rug goes roughly halfway under the sofa and accent chairs to ensure the scale is correct.

Color: Neutral woven rugs are a great way to add texture to the room, while bold colors or patterned rugs can anchor a space.

3 ways to add personality to your space through color.

Go tonal.

Not sure how to add color to a space? Start by choosing one hue as the primary base of your space then pair it with a few varying shades from the same color family. The key here is to go with a few tones so it is not overwhelming.

Pair with neutrals.

If you are experimenting with color for the first time, start with a neutral base and style your space with small touches of color through art, pillows or a pouf. Pairing them with neutrals will allow your accent color to stand out.

Make an impact.

Adding an accent wall is a great way to bring color to a space. It can be the perfect canvas for showcasing your art, décor pieces or furniture. If you are unsure how the color will look with a furniture piece we recommend comparing swatches before painting a space.

Interested in a Rove Concepts design? We recommend ordering some complimentary swatches, so you can see and feel the material before finalizing your selection.
